Dedicated to my father Lt. Shri N.C Pany
Lt. Shri N.C Pany (my father) was a voracious reader. Nothing escaped his eyes, if it was on paper. Neither the obscured article for an alternate medicine for Autism nor the rich and informational editorials; not even the advertisements. The best part is he read the same news both in English and Odia. Had we got a Hindi daily, that would have been devoured with the same fervor. Such was the importance of reading in his life. Quite naturally that’s what he wanted his children, particular the grand children to do. He was a man of extremes. He was scientific to the extent of questioning the dogmas related to religions and religious to the extent of knowing most of the scriptures. He was interested the autobiographies of the world famous personalities particularly related to Economics, Wars and Oil (his favorite subject), and also reflected a child-like enthusiasm for the great stories of Odia stalwarts. The latter he always would force upon his grandchildren to read, simply because he loved them. Unfortunately, the kids read Odia only to give their exams. He could do just so much to make them understand and feel these gem of stories. Had he known about recite.world then, he would be the happiest grandfather ever. SO this is for Dad, and his dream for Odia story-telling.
